Summary
Parcels:
- SHOULD be allocated to benefit the most from the sun's warmth (north facing in the southern hemisphere).
- SHOULD be allocated to benefit the most from the view.
- SHOULD be allocated to provide privacy from neigbours using natural and/or artificial land/vegetation features, or agreements (construction height, etc.).
It's pretty rare that a parcel can meet all the above requirements at the same time.
Notes
- Earth is tilted 23.5 degrees, so there's a (2 * 23.5= 47 degrees difference between summer and winter solar path).
- NZ is 41 degrees south of the equator.
- So (90 - theLatitude) + theSunDeclination ⇒ (90-41)
